As student welfare is a high priority for all at Arthur Phillip High School, I need to provide you with the following information that you may have seen in the media over the weekend. Yesterday morning there was a fire in the heritage building on the Parramatta Public School redevelopment site at 177 Macquarie Street, Parramatta. We are saddened by this incident. As a precautionary measure the Department of Education is carrying out inspections and testing on the Arthur Phillip High School Main Campus to ensure the safety of staff and students. The department is awaiting an analysis of the testing. There will therefore be some temporary changes to the operation of Arthur Phillip High School on Monday 21 May 2018. The Eastern Campus will operate as per normal, however the Main Campus will be temporarily closed.
Due to the closure of the Main Campus students in Years 9, 10, 11 and the Support Unit are not required to attend school and we request that parents make other arrangements for their child on Monday 21 May 2018. Students will not be marked absent from school.
Students in Years 7, 8 and 12 will operate on the Eastern Campus. All students in Year 7, 8 and 12 are required to attend an assembly at 8.30am on the Eastern Campus site.
I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause but student safety is of the utmost concern. I will communicate again with you tomorrow to confirm the arrangements for Tuesday 22 May 2018. If you have difficulty in making suitable alternative arrangements for your child please contact the school.
Should parents require any further information please contact Arthur Phillip High School on 9635 6363.
