Any student who is performing below the state benchmark is provided with enrichment programs and personalized support from our learning support team.
Our NAPLAN results indicate that we add significant value for all learners.
70% of Year 9 accomplished an expected growth in reading and their improvements are much higher than student growth of the state as a whole.
Students in our school also made good progress in Numeracy as well. 76% of Year 9 achieved the expected improvement in this year’s NAPLAN numeracy test.
We have also invested in a wide range of literacy and numeracy online programs which are integrated into our digital curriculum.
We also continue to integrate the ALERT literacy program into all key learning areas. Our mentor, Sharon Wellard, continues to work with our students on reading and writing. STudents are explicitly taught strategies that are engaging and visually exciting. Many students have indicated that they are grateful that now they understand the core literacy skills and enjoy the multi-sensory approach to their learning.
We have been fortunate to have Commonwealth funding for all these programs and we are hopeful this will continue in 2015.
We are very pleased with the Year 7 digital classes we launched this year.
