We had a very successful Year 12 graduation in term 3 and we wish all our students every success in the HSC examinations. I was very impressed by the major works produced by our students and I know many have applied for university scholarships and some students have already been granted university entrance prior to the HSC.
We are now well into planning for 2015 - innovative curriculum through a digital online. Staff continue to create their curriculum with expert support from Dr Nerida McCredie and our school has been showcased by Google as we implement some amazing learning experiences for our students.
In term 3 I visited Europe and America during my period of leave. I also participated as a student in History at Cambridge university! It was interesting to see how public education in other countries is operating. In England, for example there was intense pressure on attendance and parents are fined if their students miss any schooling. in all countries there was a strong focus on the need for a vibrant public education system and high standards.
Our NAPLAN results indicate that we continue to add value to our students’ progress. Parents will be aware that we have been doing this over many years through intensive literacy courses and allocation of additional teaching time for literacy and numeracy. While ever we have sufficient funding we will continue this program. We are keen to ensure that the education we offer is relevant and engaging to the current generation.
Parramatta continues to grow as a dynamic city with a strong educational hub. We were pleased to see that the University of Western Sydney will have a new campus across the street from our school. We are hoping this will lead to some interesting opportunities for our students.
