Students were bleary eyed with an early start on Wednesday, but once the bus arrived questions of “is there wi-fi” soon disappeared. Our camp leaders, Tom and Dylan from the YMCA, gave the tour of facilities before splitting us into groups and leading us to our activities.
While rock climbing and high ropes were challenging and exciting for many, it was games like “Ga-Ga Ball” and the dark maze that really amped up the atmosphere. Night time trivia and dancing competitions (including a rousing Nutbush from Mr Murkins) left everyone sleepy ready for day two.
After more Ga-Ga Ball, abseiling challenged everyone, and the Multi-Group challenge took teamwork and ‘The floor is Lava” to another level. The enthusiasm, communication, communication and leadership skills our students have were on full display, impressing the camp leaders.
The bus ride home was perhaps the quietest year 9 has ever been, as heads were resting on windows and shoulders for the full trip while students slept off the exhaustion. Many were asking when the next camp will be, testament to the fun and excitement had by year 9.
Till next time.
