Q1 - Why is the Department of Education redeveloping Arthur Phillip High School?
The NSW Government has committed more than $240million to redevelop and expand Arthur Phillip High School and Parramatta Public School into new state-of-the-art education facilities.

Q2 - When will the Arthur Phillip High School redevelopment be completed?
Day 1, Term 1 2019 is the planned opening day.
Q3 Question. What is the Parramatta Strategy?
The Parramatta Strategy is a program of works that will provide innovative, flexible and future focused educational provision in the surrounding areas of Parramatta. The program includes the redevelopment of several Department of Education (DoE) sites including the Rowland Hassall School site and the Old Kings School site located on O'Connell Street, Parramatta.
Q4 - Where will Arthur Philip High School students go during construction?
Some students will be relocated to a new pop-up school known as Arthur Phillip High School Eastern Campus, located on the corner of Macquarie Street and Harris Street, Parramatta. From Day 1, Term 1, 2017, around 400 students and teachers will share the grounds of Rowland Hassall School site for a number of classes. The new pop-up school is within walking distance (400 metres) of the current Arthur Phillip High School site.
Q5 - How long will the students be located at the Eastern Campus?
The Eastern Campus will be operational until the end of 2018 when all Arthur Phillip High School students will move into the new, state-of-the-art high rise Arthur Phillip High School on the Macquarie Street site in 2019.
Q6 - Will the move impact on student learning?
There will be no impact on learning for students moving to the new pop-up school known as Arthur Phillip High School Eastern Campus. The Department will ensure each child is supported during the transition and continue to provide high quality education.
Q7 - What facilities will be available at the new Arthur Phillip High School Eastern Campus?
The new, two storey, air conditioned, demountable buildings will provide up to 20 classroom facilities. The temporary campus will include:
Q8 - Will there be disruptions to the current school programs and extracurricular activities?
No. The current school programs, including extracurricular activities will continue.
Q9 - Will there be suitable play and recreation space at the Arthur Phillip High School Eastern Campus?
Yes. There will be recreational and play space for students.
Q10 - Is there a canteen on the Arthur Phillip High School Eastern Campus?
Students will be offered a Crunch and Sip morning break. This will allow students to be provided with water and fruit, giving them the chance to re-fuel which helps to improve physical and mental performance and concentration in the classroom, as well as promoting long term health. Food vending options are available including a student run juice bar co-ordinated by teaching staff. Junior students will be escorted back to the main Arthur Phillip High School site for lunch where they can access the canteen.
Q11 - Will there be any significant changes as a result of the change in student population at the co-located campus?
Rowland Hassall students will be relocated to their new school Term 3, 2017 and senior students from Parramatta Public School (Years 5 and 6) will be co-located with Arthur Philip High School at the Eastern Campus as of Day 1, Term 3, 2017. All facilities and access arrangements will remain the same.
Q12 - Will the two schools be sharing facilities?
No. Arthur Philip High School Eastern Campus and Parramatta Public School Senior Campus will be co-located but segregated, and will continue to operate independently and will include separate access and egress points, and clear divisions between the campuses.
Q13 – Will the two schools be sharing facilities?
No. The shared site will be designed to ensure both school communities can continue to operate independently.
Q14 - Where and how will year 12 students complete their trial HSC and HSC exams?
Year 12 students at Arthur Philip High School will complete their trial HSC exams and HSC exams in the new air conditioned, sound proofed Eastern Campus classrooms. Staff of Arthur Philip High School and Parramatta Public School will work together to accommodate the needs of year 12 students during the HSC period.
The Eastern Campus also provides a supervised study centre, which is available for senior students to use during study periods.
