Q3 Question. What is the Parramatta Strategy?
The Parramatta Strategy is a program of works that will provide innovative, flexible and future focused educational provision in the surrounding areas of Parramatta. The program includes the redevelopment of several sites of the Department including the Rowland Hassall School site and the Old Kings School site located on O'Connell Street, Parramatta.
Q4 - Where will Arthur Philip High School students go during construction?
Some students will be relocated to a new pop-up school known as Arthur Phillip High School Eastern Campus, located on the corner of Macquarie Street and Harris Street, Parramatta. From Day 1, Term 1, 2017, around 400 students and teachers will share the grounds of Rowland Hassall School site for a number of classes. The new pop-up school is within walking distance (400 metres) from current Arthur Phillip High School site.
Q5 - Will the move impact on student learning?
There will be no impact on learning for students moving to the new pop-up school known as Arthur Phillip High School Eastern Campus. The Department will ensure each child is supported during the transition and continue to provide high quality education.
Q6 - What facilities will be available at the new Arthur Phillip High School Eastern Campus?
The new, two storey, air conditioned, demountable buildings will provide up to 20 classroom facilities. The temporary campus will include:
Q7 - How long will students be at the new Arthur Phillip High School Eastern Campus?
Arthur Phillip High School will share the Eastern Campus for up to 6 months as Rowland Hassall School students prepare to move to their new, purpose built school in the middle of 2017.
The Eastern Campus will be operational until the end of 2018 when all Arthur Phillip High School students will move back into the new, state of the art high rise Arthur Phillip High School on the Macquarie Street site in 2019.
Q8 - Will there be disruptions to the current school programs and extracurricular activities?
No. The current school programs, including extracurricular activities will continue.
Q9 - Will there be suitable play and recreation space at the Arthur Phillip High School Eastern Campus?
Yes. There will be recreational and play space for students.
Q10 - Is there a canteen on the Arthur Phillip High School Eastern Campus?
Students will be offered a Crunch and Sip morning break. This will allow students to be provided with water and fruit giving them the chance to re-fuel which helps to improve physical and mental performance and concentration in the classroom, as well as promoting long term health. Students will be escorted back to the main Arthur Phillip High School site for lunch where they can access the canteen.
Q11 - How will the co-location of the two schools be managed?
The shared site will be designed to ensure both school communities can continue to operate independently and will include separate access and egress points, and clear divisions between the campuses.
To ensure the transition to this arrangement supports both the needs and objectives of each school community, the Department of Education will work closely with Arthur Phillip High School and Rowland Hassall School during Term 4, 2016, and throughout 2017.
This will be an opportunity to understand the needs and objectives of each community and ensure the transition supports the ongoing excellence in education that is provided by both Arthur Phillip High School and Rowland Hassall School.

No. The shared site will be designed to ensure both school communities can continue to operate independently.
Q13 - Will the Department of Education provide transport to the Arthur Phillip High School Eastern Campus?
The Eastern Campus is located within the current school catchment area for Arthur Phillip High School. It is approximately a 6 minute walk (400 metres) from Arthur Phillip High School. Year 7-10 students will be escorted to and from the Eastern Campus by a staff member.
